Dropr makes it possible to use your own custom domain on your portfolio. So, instead of your portfolio being available on http://dropr.com/yourname it will be available at http://yourname.com. To get this working a few things are needed on your part.
Step 1
Make sure you have the domain name you want registered with a domain registrar. We do not provide this service, but there are many, many places online that do. Domains can be bought for as little as a couple of dollars per year.
Step 2
Modify your domain's DNS settings to point your A record at our IP address, which is 107.20.254.38. The exact instructions for this step vary a bit depending on who your domain is registered with, but it's a common configuration needed so your domain registrar will have instructions somewhere on their website - if not, contact them and they will be happy to help. Once this is setup, wait 1 hour before continuing on to the next step.
If your domain registrar does not host your DNS records, then you might find this article useful.
Step 3
On Dropr, visit the management area of the portfolio you want to change the URL for. Open the settings panel by clicking the settings button in the top right of the page:
Once the panel is open, turn on your custom domain and enter the domain name, like so:
That's it. All done! Now you just need to wait a little while for it to come into effect. It's usually done within a couple of hours but can take as long as 48 hours.
